Samuel H. Ramírez is an architect, designer, and researcher based in Barcelona who seeks to question the normative processes of design by relating object, body, and context. With a holistic approach to practice, he combines material research, design, and production at various scales, exploring the technique, meaning, and performativity of the physical world.
‘I see my practice as an exploration and a process of trial and error, where experience and first-person contact with the practice are fundamental. My body is a bridge, a mechanism for approaching the material world and a tool for learning and design’.
Due to his background in contemporary dance, he understands the body as a multi-sensorial tool for work, exploration and knowledge, which plays a central role in his practice. For the past 4 years, he has been researching and developing methods of assembling various post-consumer objects, focusing on how to combine them in order to bring value back to them through narrative and neo-crafting.
He is currently developing an object-based thesis entitled ‘AROUND BRIGHTNESS’, a multifaceted approach to the controversial use of metal in our society and how it can be used in the service of degrowth and existential accompaniment.
